“It’s not the journalist’s job to be patriotic,” Cronkite once told a secretary of defense. “How can patriotism be determined anyway? Is patriotism simply agreeing unquestioningly with every action of one’s government? Or might we define patriotism as having the courage to speak and act on those principles one thinks are best for the country, whether they are in accordance with the wishes of the government or not?”

The Dream state and the awake state are interchangeable. Think, as you wake up from a dream where time did not exist, trying to remember¬† the voyage that your mind went on while your body lay still and restful. Now, consider the same thing happening as you leave from your awake state and enter your dream. Not long into the dream you, struggling, try to remember what reality looked like while it slips from the mind and you enter a lawless realm. Gone. In sleep, you don’t know reality. In reality, you don’t know the vastness of dream.
